Forwarded emails say a Tyson Foods poultry processing plant in Tennessee has dropped the traditional Labor Day holiday for its workers in favor of a paid day off on the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr.
Subject: tyson foods getting rid of Labor Day
Hi Everyone,
It was brought to my attention today that Tyson Foods in Shelbyville, Tn. has voted to get rid of the federal holiday of Labor Day in favor of Eid al-Fitr (last day of Ramadan) sp? They say that it was not a religious decision but rather the union asked Tyson for the change and Tyson" agreed in an efford to reach a contractual agreement with the union." They have many Somali muslims and it was a request.
I am requesting that you do a couple of things. I personally will not buy Tyson foods again. I don't think that they realize that when given an inch they will end up taking a mile. It is these seemingly "insignificant" things that add up to destroying our way of life. So for one, think of this when you go to the store. Also if you wish to contact Tyson to let them know how you feel the contact person is Libby Lawson, Tyson Foods, Inc. 479-290-3486 or nlibby.lawson@tyson.com If you think this is not important, talk to someone who is familiar with how things have changed in England since muslims have taken over their towns. It is a slow process but eventually you do not even recognize your country and have lost alot of your rights.

Subject: Tyson Foods / Muslims
Tyson Food in Shelbyville, Tennessee has eliminated Labor Day as a paid holiday in favor of the last day of Ramadan because they have 700 Muslim employees. The fact that they have almost that many non-muslim employees is beside the point apparently!
I will no longer purchase any Tyson products. It's' just one more little chunk of America that's been bitten off. If you wish to join me, then let your e-mail friends know this. If we don't stand up for something we will fall for anything.
All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.,

Tyson Plant Drops Labor Day For Muslim Holiday
More Than Half Of Tyson Plant's Workforce Muslim
SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. -- Some workers at a local plant will no longer to be able to take their Labor Day holiday because of religious reasons.
Workers at the Tyson Foods poultry processing plant in Shelbyville will no longer have a paid day off on Labor Day but will instead be granted the Muslim holiday Eid al-Fitr.
According to a news release from the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union, a new five-year contract at the plant included the change to accommodate Muslim workers at the plant.
Tyson's director of media relations Gary Mickelson said the contract includes eight paid holidays -- the same number as the old contract.
Eid al-Fitr -- which falls on Oct. 1 this year -- marks the end of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting.
Analysis: Outdated. Tyson Foods, Inc. did, in fact, sign a contract agreement in 2008 with the Retail, Wholesale and Department Stores Union providing that workers in the company's Shelbyville, Tennessee poultry processing plant would receive a paid day off on the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr instead of Labor Day, but the contract was subsequently revised to reinstate Labor Day after a public outcry ensued and Tyson asked the union to reconsider.
Eid al-Fitr is the "festival of fast-breaking" which occurs every autumn after the month-long fast known in Islam as Ramadan. RWDSU negotiators had asked for the Muslim holiday on behalf of the approximately 250 Somali refugees who work at the plant, which employs a total of about 1,200 people.
Per the new agreement, going forward both Labor Day and Eid al-fitr (or an extra personal day for non-Muslims) will be among the eight paid holidays celebrated annually by Tyson's Shelbyville employees.
