Al Islami supports Middle East's first Sustainable Living Expo

Supporting the ecological lifestyle, Al Islami Foods, the award winning halal food producer in the Middle East, announced its strong support to EPIC: The Sustainable Living Expo Dubai, the first Middle East edition of the Canada-based Epic show, which will run from June 22 to June 24, 2011 at The Dubai Mall.

With the sponsorship of a 100 volunteers to the show, Al Islami aims to raise awareness about eco-wise society.

In partnership with SS Lootah International, GLOBE Events, a Vancouver-based NGO, is proud to bring EPIC: The Sustainable Living Expo to Dubai. EPIC Dubai will be the Middle East's first sustainable lifestyle consumer show, bringing together thousands of savvy shoppers and greener businesses for an action-packed sustainable shopping extravaganza.

The UAE has taken many serious initiatives to raise awareness about environmental issues. The Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) is proactive to preserve countries natural heritage, protect our future, advises the government on environmental policy. It works to create sustainable communities, and protect and conserve wildlife and natural resources.

Epic, short for Eco-wise, Progressive and Intelligent Consumers, will feature mainly eight exhibitor categories from fashion and accessories, food and beverages, leisure and travel to home and garden and transportation in addition to dedicated displays of business, technology, government programs.

'Sustainable Living' is defined as a lifestyle that attempts to reduce society's use of the Earth's natural resources . Practitioners of sustainable living often attempt to reduce their carbon footprint by altering methods of transportation, energy consumption and diet. Sustainable living aims to lead lifestyle which is in natural balance and respectful of humanity's symbiotic relationship with the Earth's natural ecology. The modern sustainable living is shifting to a renewable energy-based and recycle economy.

"Al Islami's commitment to providing the authentic halal food, which is scientifically proven healthful for human consumption is part of company's social responsibility to the sustainable living that our founders envisioned about 30 years ago," commented Saleh Abdullah Lootah, Managing Director of Al Islami Foods.

He added, "Our support to Epic is in line with the UAE initiative to ensure integrated and sustainable water resources management, to ensure clean air, minimise climate change and its impacts."
